Thirty five years after his death, John Lennon was trending on Twitter today. John Lennon, singer, songwriter and the co-founder of the history’s arguably most popular band The Beatles, would have turned 75 today.

The late British rockstar and peace activist was assassinated for his pacifist views in New York on December 8, 1980 but his words and songs continue to resonate even today.

Fans across generations flooded Twitter with Lennon’s quotes and rare photos to mark the late rockstar’s birthday.

The UK National Trust and The British Museum took this occasion to share photos of items preserved from Lennon’s life.

    The news of the day, and every book I ever read on the subject, on why John Lennon is no longer physically on this earth, is that he was inated by a deranged gunman, who believed the Pop Icon/ revolutionary, had sold out to capitalism, therefore becoming a hypocrite. (Doing the opposite of what his song lyrics indicated) He was not murdered for being a Peace Activist.
