Wynk Music today claimed it is the most downloaded music app on Google Play Store in India since December 2015. Quoting appannie data, it said the app has over 25 million downloads since it was launched in September 2015. It further reveals more than 15 million songs are played every day. Interestingly, 60 per cent of Wynk Music installs are non-Airtel customer. Users spend an average of over five hours per month on Wynk Music.

The combination of growing smartphone penetration and proliferation of mobile internet in the country has given a significant push to the uptake music streaming, particularly amongst younger audiences who look for quality content on the go. Wynk Music offers over 500 music labels in 12 languages, apart from curated playlists across genres and moods. The service recently launched its mobile site, which allows users to stream music from any browser on their smartphones.
Wynk Music claims that its Data Save Mode with 2G optimisations makes streaming music on a 2G network easy, and also saves up to 70 per cent of data. The local MP3 player in the app allows users to play songs stored on their device as well as from the app.
