Samsung is all set to unveil its first smartwatch with a circular display. At Tizen Developer Summit held in Bangalore, Samsung announced its new SDK 2.3.1 for wearables with support for circular display and ability to write native apps for Tizen OS.
There is some inspiration from the Apple Watch. While Apple Watch features a crown for navigation or to interact with the device, Samsung’s next smartwatch will have a rotating functional dial or bezel for navigating the Tizen interface. Samsung has the largest line-up of wearable devices available in all shapes and form factor.
Samsung’s next smartwatch will feature a round 360 x 360 pixels touch display and new interaction type to match the rotating functional bezel. The smartwatch is rumoured to be powered by Exynos 3472 dual-core processor with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The smartwatch is also likely to support Wi-Fi 802.11n and low-power Bluetooth 4.1 for connectivity.
Samsung will try compete with the likes of Moto 360 and LG G Watch Urbane with its new circular display smartwatch. The emulator for this circular display is smartwatch is already with the new SDK. Samsung could launch this new smartwatch alongside Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 plus.
