Snapdeal has announced the launch of its in-app integration with Uber. Users will now be able to request an Uber directly through the Snapdeal app. Snapdeal currently allows users to book flights, order food and pay bills directly through its app. While users book hotel or flights through the Snapdeal app, they can also book an Uber to travel to airport or hotel. The Uber can be booked from within the Snapdeal app, even when users do not have Uber app installed on their devices.

“We are committed to building the country’s most reliable and frictionless digital ecosystem, that caters to the entire range of India’s consumption needs. Our unique partnership with Uber, a global leader in smart mobility, is an important step in that direction. We are confident that this integration will further provide an exemplary experience to our customers,” said Tony Navin, Senior Vice President, Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives, Snapdeal.

The service is currently available on Android version 4.0 and higher. Snapdeal says the feature will be rolled out for other platforms soon. Users will have to update the Snapdeal app on their devices.

“This partnership with Snapdeal is the first completely native Uber API integration in India and we are excited about this, as we share the same sentiment of building an ecosystem where we work together with other technology companies in order to give customers a hassle-free, end-to-end experience,” said Mahesh Bhalla, Head of Business, Uber India.

Facebook recently partnered with Uber allowing Messenger users to hail for a cab directly from the messaging platform. The feature, however, is only available in the US. Google recently updated its Maps apps allowing users to search for an Uber or Ola nearby. Google announced the same on its official Maps blog, saying that the app will now show users “a dedicated tab with information for ride services—in addition to the existing car, transit, walking, or biking options.”
