Facebook has introduced two new Page sections – services and shop – in an effort to make its Pages section more useful to businesses online. According to Facebook, the new sections are available to all Pages in Southeast Asia as well as other high growth and emerging markets. “With the shops and services sections on pages, businesses around the world can help people discover the products and services they care about in a more visually appealing way.” said Adrian Nam, Product Marketing Manager at Facebook
The shop section basically provides businesses with a new way to display the products they are selling on their Page more prominently. “This enables people to easily discover, browse and make offers to purchase products through messaging from the businesses they care about,” says Facebook. The services section on Pages allows service businesses to list their offerings on their Page, which makes it easier for people to find the information they are looking. The services ection is now available for users globally.
Facebook put out a list of top 10 countries where the shop seection is available. This includes Thailand, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, India, Argentina and Taiwan. Facebook says more than a billion people on Facebook globally are connected to at least one business. More than 57 per cent of people In India are connected to a business on Facebook. Sheryl Sandberg, COO at Facebook had said, “Our focus right now is overwhelmingly on the consumer experience. We’re really looking at the organic activity that’s happening between businesses and consumers,” adding that 1 billion messages of that nature are being sent per month on Messenger.
“The shops and services sections are a continuation of our efforts to make Facebook Pages the most valuable online presence for the more than 60 million businesses around the world that use Pages each month.” said Ryan Ebanks, Product Marketing Manager at Facebook. According to statistics, more than 1.99 billion interactions are generated between businesses and people in India. Also, there are 2 million small and medium businesses (SMB) Pages on Facebook in India as of October 2015.
