The next big thing(s) from Apple will be announced in San Francisco today at 10am PDT, which translates to 10.30pm IST.
As usual, Apple will live-stream the launch event for its users. However, this time Apple has surprised technology enthusiasts by welcoming Microsoft Windows users as well for the live-stream. This is happening for the first time in Apple’s history.

12.29 am: Apple announces a new iPhone upgrade programme to give users a new iPhone every year. The new models will be priced like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S which will now become cheaper. Availability from September 24.
12.24 am: There is a new feature called Live Photos with a bit of movement and sound. So the camera will actually shoot a bit more before and after the moment. Live Photos will be on the Facebook app this year.
12.22 am: Very intelligent of Apple us use the screen as the front flash, that too with True Tone.
12.21 am: So 4K video finally comes to the iPhone. Android phones had them last year.
12.16 am: There is a new 12MP iSight camera with a bigger sensor with True Tone flash. The images do look impressive.
12.12 am: 3D touch has uses in gaming too. It might however mean some time to adjust and learn.
12.11 am: The new iPhones are power by 3rd gen 64-bit A9 chips. Apple claims 90 per cent more graphics performance.
11.59 pm: The new phones are the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus, termed the most advanced smartphones ever. So 3D Touch is the big new feature in these phones. 3D touch is able to recognise force and that will replace the double tap.
11.55pm: Now for the iPhone and Tim Cook mentions India. I guess that is a first. Well, iPhone grew 75 per cent in China. iPhone 6 is most popular iPhone ever.
11.53 pm: It has a 64-bit A8 remote. Remote is Bluetooth-based. Apple TV starts at 32gb for $149 and 64gb at $199.
11.48 pm: Is this the start of TV shopping? App won’t be limited to entertainment and games.
11.38 pm: Apple Music also comes to the Apple TV. There is a new operating system based on iOS called tvOS.
11.34 pm: The Apple TV now has an app store of its own. Plus, the voice commands are intelligent and gets context offering precise results.
11.28 pm: The Apple TV has evolved with a powerful set-top-box and a remote that has touch and voice. There is a glass touch surface on the remote to swipe through titles, while the Siri remote can take voice commands.

11.24 pm: There is also a new iPad Mini 4 priced $399, while there are some price cuts in other models
11.18 pm: Powered by a 3rd gen A9x processor and offering 10 hours of battery, the iPad Pro is priced $799. The Pencil is $99 and the keyboard $169. They will become available in November. We can expect it in India soon after.

10.48 pm: New watches to start shipping today and Watch OS 2 coming from September 16.
10.45pm: Lots new Apple Watch options. India can only drool, we are yet to see the Watch.
10.43 pm: Apple says the Watch can redefine how messaging happens in healthcare.
10.37 pm: Already over 10,000 apps on the Watch store. Apps can now display video and access hardware. And yes, Facebook messenger comes to the Watch with GoPro viewfinder.
10.36 pm: Apple Watch has new features like third party complications and time travel to see what the day holds for you.

Meanwhile, here is what you can expect at the Apple Event.
Windows 10 PC users can watch the Apple event live on Microsoft Edge browser. For Apple users, they will need “an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.”
Apple has already taken down its online store ahead of the launch event. The website now shows a “’We’ll be back” banner, just like before launch event.
