Airtel Payments Bank Limited has rolled out a pilot of its banking services in Rajasthan. The pilot is aimed at testing systems and processes ahead of a full scale pan Indian launch. Using Airtel Bank, customers in towns and villages across Rajasthan can open bank accounts at Airtel retail outlets. The Airtel retail outlet will also act as Airtel banking points to offer basic banking services. The pilot is launching with 10,000 banking points at Airtel retail outlets. According to Airtel, several merchants across Rajasthan have tied-up with Airtel Bank to accept cashless payments via mobile phones. Plus, Airtel Banking points will offer bank account opening services as well as cash deposit and withdrawal facilities.
“With this pilot, we have taken a big step towards the launch of our banking services and will be testing our operational readiness for full-scale launch across India. We would also like to use feedback from our customers to further improve our processes and look forward to serving them,” said Shashi Arora, MD & CEO, Airtel Payments Bank.
Users, irrespective of whether they have an Airtel number or not, can open an account with Airtel Bank using Aadhar e-KYC. However, Airtel Bank does not have ATM/Debit Card facility as of now. Customers can check their account balance using Airtel Money app, USSD or IVR over their mobile phones and and transfer money to friends using the the Airtel Money app or through USSD. Money transfer can be done by dialing *400#.
