Twitter will allow auto-play feature on videos, GIFs shared on the social media site. Twitter made the announcement on its blog.
Native videos, Vines and GIFs will begin to play back automatically and will reduce the number of taps required to get a video to play. If you want the sound as well, you will have to tap on the video and it will then play in an expanded view.
“If you turn the video to landscape mode, the sound will automatically turn on and the video will expand to fill the screen,” adds the blogpost.
Users can however go to settings and go back to the earlier click-to-play experience all the time or simply have videos auto-play only when they are connected to WiFi as well. This is a good-setting to have, since it will ensure that users don’t end up consuming their data bandwidth, when browsing Twitter thanks to all the auto-play videos.
