Google’s Nik Software collection of photo-editing plug-ins now free

Google has made the entire Nik Software collection of photo-editing plug-ins available for free, the company announced in a blog post. The software, which was available for $149 earlier, can now be downloaded for free for Windows and Mac devices.

“Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it,” Google said.

The Nik Software is a collection of seven desktop plug-ins – Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine – that help in photo-editing. Google added that it will refund the full amount to users who purchased the Nik collection in 2016.
