Twitter India has compiled the year that was on the micro-blogging platform and there seem to be no real surprises when it comes to the moments that made the largest impact in 2015. With a whopping 118.3 million Impressions, the Cricket World Cup #INDvsPAK match of February 15, which India won, had the most impact.

This was followed by Aam Aadmi Party’s historic victory in the #DelhiElections the same month with over 10.8 million elections-related Tweets during the 30-day campaign period. Both #DelhiElections and #DelhiVotes saw a lot of chatter on the elections.

Thanks to its first ever Diwali emoji, #HappyDiwali was trending between November 8 and 13.

The recent #ChennaiRains resulted in over 1.4 million tweets. Along with #ChennaiRains, #ChennaiFloods and #ChennaiRainsHelp hashtags also helped crowdsource during this natural disaster.

India’s 69th Independence Day was marked by a Tricolour emoji. During the period, The Taj Mahal joined Twitter and there was also an inspirational #SaluteSelfie campaign that recorded over 100,000 Tweets to show gratitude for the Armed Forces.

#IPL was the most popular hashtag with over 9 million #IPL Tweets this season.
