Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to launch on October 25. Reports suggest the Chinese technology company will host an event in China, where it will announce the successor of Mi Note smartphone. Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which was expected to launch in September earlier, is said to feature a dual-rear camera setup. Rumours surrounding Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone has been doing rounds for sometime now and some suggest that this could be the most expensive smartphone by the company. In a separate set of leaks, pictures of what is said to be Mi Note 2 has been revealed on social networking site Weibo.
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 pictures show the smartphone with ultra-thin bezels on all sides as well as edge-to-edge display. But the latest pictures are in contradiction with rumours that indicated a dual-edge display in Mi Note 2. The display reveals MIUI-like OS reinforcing it is indeed a Xiaomi smartphone. The smartphone revealed in pictures miss the usual navigation/home button at the bottom and front camera lens at the top, setting it apart current offerings in the market.
However, the new set of images do not show back of the smartphone, so we’ll have to wait and see if the dual-rear camera is indeed true. Xiaomi Mi Note 2’s dual-rear camera setup was first spotted in a teaser trailer for the smartphone by Playfuldroid. The positioning of the camera sensors is on the upper left corner, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus.
Earlier leaks have given out specifications for the device as well. The Mi Note 2 is said to come with a Snapdragon 821 SoC chip and feature a 5.5-inch OLED display. The smartphone is expected to come in two combinations based on storage – 6GB RAM/ 64GB ROM and 8GB RAM/ 256GB ROM.
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is said to support QuickCharge 3.0 technology. The front home button was said to double as a fingerprint scanner, but this clearly doesn’t looks to be the case in the new set of pictures. The phone is expected to sport a metal unibody design, and Xiaomi is also expected to drop the external memory support for the device.
An earlier leaked image of the Mi Note 2 has hinted at the device featuring a dual curved display with a Quad-HD resolution.
According to a Phoneradar report, the phone will come in two variants based on display – one with dual curved screen and another with a flat screen. The flat screen variant will get a full HD resolution, while the dual curved display will feature a Quad-HD resolution. The report further claimed that the Mi Note 2 will cost 2,499 Yuan (approx Rs 25,000) for the 64GB variant, and 2,799 Yuan (approx Rs 28,000) for the 128GB variant.
It is unclear if Xiaomi will bring the Mi Note 2 to India as the company does not usually bring high-end smartphones to the Indian market. The company has seen significant success with its Redmi Note 3 smartphone in India, which has emerged as a best-selling device for the company here.
