The under $450 pricing raises concerns over whether this new OnePlus will be more expensive. The OnePlus One 64GB launched at $350 (around Rs 22,000). There have also been reports of a full-metal body version of the OnePlus 2 based on CEO Pete Lau’s posts on China’s Weibo. In addition, to this photos of a full metal body OnePlus 2 phone have been leaked as well.
Recently OnePlus had confirmed that the next flagship OnePlus 2 smartphone will be unveiled on July 27. Interestingly the OnePlus 2 launch event will not be a regular event with “an auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience,” but rather via Virtual Reality (VR). The VR launch event can be streamed by everyone.

“A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship. You’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs,” said co-founder Carl Pei in the official blog.
The OnePlus 2 will come with the Snapdragon 810 chip specifically engineered for the phone and a Type C-USB port. The Type C-USB port supports various new USB standards like USB 3.1 and USB power delivery (USB PD). It also supports HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA with adapters. OnePlus 2 will be the first flagship smartphone to support Type C-USB.
With Snapdragon 810, users have raised concerns, given 810 has caused serious heating issues in phones in the past. OnePlus wrote on their blog, “OnePlus 2 will come loaded with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, engineered for OnePlus and our next generation flagship phone.” OnePlus insists that the chip will be perfect for multi-tasking, better camera speed, battery life, LTE and more.
The company went on to address the heating concerns and said, “Although there have been reports that the 810 runs warmer than its predecessors, we assure you that we have taken all the necessary precautions and beyond to prevent this from occurring in the 2. We worked very closely with Qualcomm’s engineers to integrate an improved version of the chipset (v2.1) in the OnePlus 2, and fine-tuned both hardware and software.”
