Motorola Moto Z, Moto Z Play along with Moto Mods will go on sale in India tonight at 11:59 pm on Amazon India and Flipkart. The Moto Z is priced at Rs 39,999, while the Moto Z Play costs Rs 24,999. Exchange offers with up to Rs 25,500 will also be available on the two e-commerce portals, as well no-cost EMI on purchase of the phone. Moto Z, Moto Z Play are the first modular smartphones from Motorola and the extra ‘Mods’ can be attached to the phone for extra features and functionality.
Moto Mods on the list are JBL SoundBoost Speaker which is priced at Rs 6,999, the Hasselblad True Zoom Camera at Rs 19,999, the Instashare Projector Mod priced at Rs 19,999. Also there’s the Incipio offGRIDtm Power Pack which is priced at Rs 5,999. Motorola’s Style Shells are also available; the price is Rs 1099 for the Wood and Ballistic Nylon, while the Leather Shell is priced at Rs 1,599. There’s also bundled pricing for each Mod and Shell with the smartphone.

Moto Z is the flagship phone with a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, but it’s got a razor thin design at just 5.2mm. On the back are the 16 magnetic pins to which the Mods, Style shells can be attached. The phone is made from “military aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel,” claims the company. The 13 MP rear camera juts out quite a bit on this phone. Also the Moto Z doesn’t have a headphone jack just like the iPhone 7 series.
Moto Z features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space. It supports a microSD slot with 200GB as the maximum limit.
The camera is 13MP with f1.8 aperture OIS, and laser autofocus. The front camera is 5MP camera with a front flash and a wide angle lens. The smartphone has a 2600 mAh battery, and Motorola is claiming 24 hours battery life on this phone. Moto Z launches in India in two versions: Black with lunar grey back and white with fine gold back.
Moto Z Play has a 5.5-inch full HD display and runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It doesn’t have a ultra thin design unlike the flagship version. It has an aluminium-frame and a glass back design. The Moto Z Play comes with 3GB RAM RAM+32GB storage, expandable to 200GB.
Moto Z Play has a 16 MP camera with laser autofocus, PDAF, and a 5MP front camera.
The battery is the USP of the Moto Z Play which has a 3510 mAh battery, and Motorola claims it has 45 hour battery life. It also supports Motorola’s TurboPower charging allowing up to 8 hours of use in just 15 minutes charge. Moto Z Play is available in two colour variants: Black and Silver as well as White and Gold.
