Moto G4 Play could launch in India soon as data on Zauba (import and export tracking website) shows the phone being imported in the country. Moto G4 Play written as Moto XT 1607 was imported from the US with a per unit cost of Rs 6,804, according to data on the website.
Import pricing is merely a reflection of what the phone will eventually retail at, so should not be taken as a final price. The phone is expected to launch in India soon.
Moto G4 Play has a 5-inch full HD display, a smaller size compared to its siblings – the Moto G4 and G4 Plus with 5.5-inch screens. The phone is expected to be launched with only two colour options – White and Black.
Play has a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable to 128GB via microSD).
It comes with an eight megapixel rear camera and five megapixel front camera. The front camera supports Display Flash It runs the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS and has a 2800 mAh battery.
This one has a water repellent nano-coating, supports 4G, Bluetooth version 4.1 LE and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz).
Given the price, we could see the Moto G4 Play replace the budget Moto E series smartphone in India. We know Lenovo’s Motorola wants to ensure a phone at every price-point, which explains why the Moto G4 came in two versions: Moto G4 regular and Moto G4 Plus. In fact, Plus comes in two SKUs 16 and 32GB with a Rs 1,000 price difference between the two.
With the Moto G4 Play, the company could have a phone in budget segment, aka the under Rs 8,000 price-band.
