Lenovo Vibe P2, the successor to Vibe P1 has leaked in the form of live images ahead of official launch. The leaked images show the device being demoed at a trade event in China.
For Lenovo, Vibe P series has been all about big battery smartphones. The company’s first two products – Vibe P1 and Vibe P1m – were received well in the Indian audience primarily because of its superior battery life. Now it seems Lenovo could launch the successor very soon.
Lenovo Vibe P2 seems to feature metal unibody design and will feature 5.5-inch AMOLED display. According to GSMArena, Lenovo is also planning to source AMOLED panels from Chinese companies like Xiaomi. Xiaomi’s Redmi Pro, which was launched on July 27, already comes with OLED panels sourced from domestic companies. It seems Chinese companies are jumping from LCD tech to OLED/AMOLED by using locally sourced panels. Generally OLED panels tend to be more sharper and energy efficient than LCD displays.
Earlier this week, Lenovo Vibe P2’s benchmark confirmed the device’s specifications. According to Geekbench listing, Lenovo Vibe P2 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with an upgrade to 4GB RAM as opposed to 3GB RAM found on Vibe P1.
Lenovo Vibe P2 is likely to get a 5000mAh battery like Vibe P1 but will be thinner at 8.5 mm. Lenovo Vibe P1 was 9.9 mm thick and looked clunky. Lenovo Vibe P1 could launch with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and feature a front button which also doubles up as fingerprint scanner.
