iBall Slide 3G 7803Q-900 review: Good tablet, but I wouldn’t use this as a phone

The iBall Slide 3G 7803Q-900 is a decent tablet and its performance is as good as any mid-range smartphone.

iBall_m The iBall Slide 3G 7803Q-900 costs Rs. 11,490.

Despite the onslaught of the phablets ranging from 5 to 6.99 inches there are still tablets in the market that offer voice calling. The latest in this group is the iBall Slide 3G 7803Q-900, a 7.85-inch Android tablet with dual 3G SIM slots.

Specs: 7.85″ IPS touchscreen (1024×768 pixels) | 1.3GHz quad-core MT8312 processor | 1GB RAM | 16GB internal memory, expandable microSD slot up to 32GB | 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front camera | Dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) | 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB 2.0 | 4000mAh battery | Android 4.2

Price: Rs. 11,490

The tablet has a unremarkable style that is more functional than stunning. It is not the slimmest tablet around, but cannot be called thick in any way. The size makes it relatively comfortable to use as a phone if needed. One-hand operation is impossible and you cannot adjust the volume with one hand. The camera, two SIMs and SD card slot are behind a removable flap on top.

The 7.85-inch screen is one of the better features of this devices and is good for those who like to consume a lot of video content on the go. I guess that will be the strongest reason for people to buy a calling tablet with a screen that is almost 8 inches. Sadly, the audio is not as good as the screen.

The performance of this Slide tablet is as good as any mid-range smartphone. There is, however, a slight lag when you shift between apps or go from the home screen to the app drawer. The tablet also heats up a bit when you are playing video.

The front camera is good enough for that occasional skype call, but not for selfies. The rear camera is incapable of doing much in low light. But then you don’t buy a tab like this for its camera.

Out of the 16 GB, 12.5GB is available to the user. You can’t expect much more in a tablet that costs so much. You might need to spend on a SD card if you want to have videos at your beck and call.

The interface has been customised for a phone and not a tablet. There are no major teams except the app tray button, which carries the iBall logo. There is not much bloatware and that is a welcome change coming from an Indian manufacturer.

The 4000mAh battery is good enough to last over a day and that has to be one of the advantages of owning a phone this large.

The iBall Slide 3G 7803Q-900 is a decent tablet, especially given its price. I am not sure its size makes it a comfortable phone to use. But then look at the calling feature as an added advantage. I would not recommend this as a primary phone, but go ahead if you are looking for a second device.

Do not recommend iBall products: I purchased Andi 5c Iball mobile in Sep 2012 (Rs 13000) and screen got broken in sep 2014 since then i visited Mumbai and also in Rajasthan iball service centers...and they are telling that it cannot be repaired as parts are not available (only after 2 years of purchase) or will inform me when its available. Since 2014....till today (April 2016) i am following up with customer care but no action taken. Hence do not buy such products or services or even recommend.....though they have huge money to spend on film stars....lt;br/gt;lt;br/gt;After so much of followup and escalating the matter to company executives, In may'16, customer service executive has given me Rs.1000 as a discount if i purchase any new mobile product from their website. Crazy guys.lt;br/gt;Who will now purchase their product when they can't repair it...so plz don't spend a single rs on iball product. I wrote several time this complain since 18th Oct'14, since then no progress.

My bro purchased it last week..I found some points missed (or misunderstood) in comments here 1-nearly out of 16 gb storage 3.5 gb for apps & 9.4 gb for storage(so sure about its not only 1gb) 2-at first discharge it took more than usual time to charge..then tried charging when its switched off..it helped & took only 2.5 hours to fully charge.. 3-installled office app which run word/excel/power point/pdf files.. 4-games/apps/live walls runs nicely..but yes it lags between apps & home shift.. 5-video H/W support for better quality.. 6-overall recommended for people looking for gadget with abilities to show your work portfolio like me....

IBall products specially Mobiles and Tablets are of worst cheap chinese junks. These products don't even last the warranty period. Please don't buy any product of IBall. They cheat customer in name of warranty. I feel their hardware is getting failed /malfunctioning if you use it for long time. Because of their product issue we can't waste our money. I had purchased IBall slide 7803 Q900 Tablet 10 months back. One day I realized it is not getting charged. So I went to IBall Service center and they said that PCB (motherboard) has issue and they need to replace it but they do not cover it under warranty. So I will have to pay 80% of the cost of the tablet. I called customer care Mumbai they also said the same thing. So IBall is cheater and cheaper as well. Please don't go for it even it give you the product in free of cost. they spend our money on getting stars to advertise and sell us fake stuff.

I purchased this tab sometime back. The main disadvantage with this one is the available memory for apps is only 1gb though it is having 16gb internal memory. Unfortunatly, you cannot increase the size. Now If I want to install any new apps then I have to remove existing.
