Huawei Honor Magic smartphone has been launched in China at 3,699 yuan (Rs 36,000 approx). The highlight of the smartphone is its intelligent sensors that help in ensuring privacy. Honor Magic comes with features such as WiseScreen, and FaceCode Intelligent Recognition. Honor has added Magic Live to the smartphone as well. Magic Live is an extra layer of AI-based software that can perform specific tasks.
The WiseScreen sensor in Honor Magic turns on the smartphone screen only after in recognises user’s hands and eyes. The sensor relies on infrared sensor and the front camera to switch on the screen. The screen is automatically turned off as user puts Honor Magic inside his pocket. The FaceCode Intelligent Recognition, on the other hand, displays notifications only after it verifies who’s holding the smartphone. Honor Magic users will have to pre-register their face on the smartphone.
As far as specifications go, Honor Magic features a 5.06-inch 2K AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at 577ppi. It features a curved design and 3D glass covers. The home button in Honor Magic doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. Honor Magic is powered by an octa-core Huawei Kirin 950 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Honor Magic sports a 12MP dual rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone is backed by a 2,900mAh non-removable battery. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Honor Magic Live. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro USB 2.0, GPS, AGPS, Glonass and BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.
Sensors on Honor Magic include Hall effect sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Compass, Accelerometer, Phone status indicator and Gyroscope. The dimensions of the smartphone are 146.1 x 69.9 x 7.8 mm. It weighs 145 gm and will be available in two colour variants – Golden Black, Porcelain White.
