Gionee M6 and M6 plus are headed to India post Diwali. Gionee India CEO and MD Arvind Vohra confirmed the same at launch event of company’s S6s smartphone. Gionee ‘M’ series smartphones focus on long battery life and M6 and M6 plus are no exceptions. The smartphones pack 5,000 mAh and 6,020 mAh battery respectively. Gionee M6 and M6 plus were first announced in Beijing late July.
Gionee claims M6 is the world’s first fully-secure smartphone. The smartphone has been launched in two variants based on security features. The Chinese variant gets an encrypted chip that helps secure a user’s data on the device. Gionee M6, for other countries, features fingerprint scanner, privacy protection as well as malware destruction. So clearly, India will get the one with fingerprint scanner for when M6 launches here.
Gionee M6 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D glass. It features an aluminum unibody design. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek MT6755 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. The memory in Gionee M6 is expandable up to 128 via microSD card. There’s a 13 MP primary camera with Sony IMX 258 sensor and an 8 MP front camera. The device runs company’s Amigo 3.2 OS with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Gionee M6 is a dual SIM smartphone. It supports two micro SIM cards. Gionee M6 is available in two storage options in China – 64GB and 128GB. The 128GB variant costs 2899 Yuan (Rs 29,229 approx) globally and the 64 GB variant is available at 2699 yuan (Rs 27,212 approx). We’ll have to wait and see how Gionee decides to price the smartphone in India.
Gionee M6 plus, on the other hand, features a 6-inch Full HD display. In terms of specifications, there’s 1.8GHz octa-core Helip P10 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. In terms of camera, Gionee M6 Plus sports a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Gionee M6 plus is priced at 2,999 Yuan (Rs 30,200 approx) for 64 GB variant, and 3,199 Yuan (Rs 32,200 approx) for 128 GB variant.
