Alcatel has a new smartphone to offer in India, and it’s called Idol 4. The smartphone comes bundled with a VR headset. Priced at Rs 16,999, the Idol 4 will be made exclusively on Flipkart, starting today.

Alcatel Idol 4 features a 5.2-inch Full HD display having a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. But the onboard memory cannot be expanded via a microSD card. 

The Idol 4 features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The image sensor has an aperture of f/2.0 and offers dual-LED flash. The front of the phone has an 8-megapixel shooter with wide-angle lens for better selfies, claims the company. Idol 4 is 7.1 mm thick and weighs 135 grams.

Alcatel is pitching the Idol 4 as a multimedia monster. Alcatel claims the Idol 4’s two powerful 3.6 watt speakers will deliver Hi-Fi surround sound alongside optimisation for audio presets. Alcatel will also bundle high-quality JBL earphones inside the box.

While Alcatel still has a long way to beat the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus, the company continues to expand its mid-range smartphone portfolio in India. The company’s latest smartphone, the Idol 4, is an attempt to appease the geeks.

Idol 4 will be bundled alongside a VR headset powered by OneTouch VR store. Idol 4 will be available in three colour variants: Gold, Dark Gray and Metal Silver.
