Airtel has announced today that it will be launching affordable international roaming packs with 10 day validity. The offers are valid for popular destinations like US, Canada, UK, Thailand, Singapore and UAE. Airtel claims that it has come up with these packs after extensive market research, and are aimed at customers who make regular trips or go on vacations outside the country.
An international roaming pack for Singapore and Thailand would cost a user Rs 1,199, giving them unlimited free incoming calls, along with 2GB of data. Users will also get 250 minutes of free calling to India, and the ability to send 100 free SMSs a day. In case the user exceeds the limit, data will be charged to Rs 3 per MB (a reduction of 99 per cent from Rs. 650/MB); outgoing calls at Rs 3 per minute.
For Airtel users travelling to US, Canada, UAE and UK, the international pack would cost them Rs 2,999. They will also get unlimited free incoming calls; 2GB of data, 250 minutes of free calling to India and 100 free SMSs a day. Data will be charged at Rs 3/MB when using over the limit, and outgoing calls will be charged at Rs 3/min – except in UAE, where a user will be charged Rs 10/min.
Commenting on the launch, Ajai Puri, Director of Market Operations (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said, “We are delighted to introduce the new 10 day validity pack for International Roaming and provide added flexibility to customers. These affordable packs will enable users to now stay connected 24×7 without having to worry about high call and data charges while roaming on international networks.”
Customers who want their international roaming plan activated can visit the My Airtel app, Airtel’s website, contact customer care or even get it activated via USSD. Airtel says that the advantage of the packs is the fact that a customer can activate them at any time at their convenience, making sure they only pay for them when they use it.
