Apple has officially announced iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a special event in San Francisco, California. Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus basically stayed true to their rumours with a design similar to the existing iPhone 6 series and they also drop the headphone jack. Apple didn’t announce anything that we haven’t already heard from KGI securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, but Apple CEO Tim Cook did demo carpool karaoke as a cool quotient.
iPhone 7, 7 Plus: Apple iPhone 7 is the name for newly iPhone series. Yes, it is not called iPhone 6SE or iPhone 2016 but iPhone 7 minus the shenanigans of new design. Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus now comes in two new black colour options and design is extremely similar to iPhone 6 series with streamlined antenna design and perfect aluminium bonding.
iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Specifications: Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus both feature same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays like its predecessors but the displays are 25 per cent brighter and support wide colour gamut for natural and vivid colour reproduction.
Apple iPhone 7 series is powered by 64-bit quad-core A10 Fusion chipset, which the company claims to be 40x faster than the A9 chip found on iPhone 6s. Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus also come with updated GPU for better gaming performance. Apple is also promising two hours more battery life on the new iPhones compared to the 6s series, though it has not specified what the the battery size will be.
iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Features: Apple iPhone 7 comes with reengineered home button that offers haptic feedback every time the user clicks on home button. The haptic feedback similar to the force touch trackpad seen on latest Macs. Apple is also discarding the 3.5mm headphone jack in favour of the Lightning connector EarPods. Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are now waterproof with IP67 rating.
The biggest feature update, however, comes in the camera department. Apple iPhone 7 now comes with an updated 12MP iSight camera with wider f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation. The iPhone 7 Plus gets dual rear camera setup with one sensor for wide-angle and another one for telephoto. Each sensor, here is capable of capturing its own pixels to produce a brighter image with more detail. Apple iPhone 7 Plus also supports 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
The Portrait feature in iPhone 7 Plus will let users create pictures with a shallow depth of field, although Apple said this will be part of a software update rolled out to the devices later on. Apple has also bumped up the front camera to make it 7MP for better selfies.
Apple iPhone 7, 7 Plus storage options are 32, 128 and 256GB, as the company has ended the 16GB and the 64GB options. Given the improved camera capabilities, the extra camera space will no doubt be a good idea for users. Apple iPhone 7 starts at Rs 60,000 for 32GB version in India and sales begin from October 7.
