Apple iPhone 7 series has launched today. The Apple event for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus started at 10.30 pm IST, and users can watch the live-stream on the Apple.com website. Any iOS or MacOS users or anyone just watch the stream on the Safari browser on an Apple device. Windows 10 users with Edge browser can also see the event on the laptops, as Apple is no longer keeping its events exclusive to its own ecosystem.
Apple CEO Tim Cook started the keynote where the new iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2 were unveiled. Apple also launched the new AirPods for wireless music experience on Apple device. The iPhone 7 series has been leaked quite a lot with the latest report from KGI Securities pretty much giving away all the crucial details including how the dual rear camera system will work and the clock speed of the A10 processor in the new iPhone 7.
For Apple iPhone 7 comes as a crucial launch with sales of the iPhone declining and a loss in revenue for the company. There’s a lot riding for Tim Cook and co with this launch and we’ll have to wait and see what Apple reveals.
You can follow our live blog below for updates, as we will be attending the launch event at the Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco.
That’s all for now. As you know by now the iPhone 7 series will come to India on October 7 with prices starting Rs 60,000. This is significant since the entry model is now 32GB and this price was the same for the 16GB iPhone 6s. Adios from San Francisco.
You heard it here first. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus coming to India on October 7. That’s exactly a month of from now.
Waiting to give you guys a glimpse of the new devices. My biggest takeaway is that this camera with be a game changer. Also waterproofing is big. Ask me, I come from Kerala. The older models get more storage now for no extra price, so for those who put off purchases, you are getting more for your buck now.
We head over to the hands on area next. Keep tab of ur videos and analysis soon.
Cook is wrapping up. Calls for all Apple employees behind the product to stand up. Right in front of me an Indian woman stands up and cheers. That’s great to see.
India is not in first list. But should be there in the next list of 30 countries. Prices start $649, no surprises there. The best thing is that 32GB storage is now base across the range, even in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

Phil is wrapping up. Best phone we have ever made, he says. That’s how Apple always introduces its new devices. It has to be better than the last time, right?
Battery live will be better. Phil says longest battery life ever in an iPhone. Two more hours from last versions.
Console level gaming now possible, says Phil, calls it a breakthrough. Photo apps will love this new processor too. But it could be the dual camera that really uses this chip to its best.
The best is left for the last. Performance of the iPhone 7 on show. The A10 Fusion chip is 64bit, quad core processor — two high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores that use lesser battery. Performance controller devices which cores are used for what. Better graphics too, 240x faster than the first iPhone.
So Apple is killing the 3.5 headphone jack for sure. The AirPods look cool, but will have to wait and see how it will be priced in India. And when they are launched here.
Have to say Apple has taken a key from some of its rivals here. The dual cameras, wireless headphones all made their debut with Android. But with Apple too biting the bullet, you can be certain these are the smartphone trends for the coming year.
Here is a roundup. Four products announced so far. Apple Watch Series 2, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and AirPods. Is there more?
Apple it taking on another challenge and is announcing the AirPods, wireless headphones. Looks like the Icon X from Samsung. This is now the future of audio for sure with both top smartphone makers taking this up. Five hours of listening on one charge. There is a charging pod too. Almost Deja Vu.
Now to audio. Stereo speakers and yes the 3.5mm jack is dead. Apple will connect with lightning connectors from now. Thankful there is an adapter for the analogue jack.
BOKEH, eh? The two lenses help create a depth map and blur the background. There is a new Portrait mode. Incredible breakthrough, says Phil.
The iPhone 7 Plus has a wide angle and telephoto lens combo as the leaks suggested. You shoot with the telephoto in one click. Can offer up to 5X zoom, no wait, 10X zoom. Optical zoom is till 2X, rest is digital zoom. DSLRs have competition. One more thing.
Camera is new feature number 4: iPhone 7 has only has one camera but gets OIS. Bigger 12MP sensor and four-LED flash. Flicker sensor can compensate for artificial lighting. More powerful sensor, says Phil. And it can shoot in RAW. The front camera is better too. And we have not even reached the iPhone 7 Plus.
The new iPhones will also be water and dust resistant. This is huge because not a lot of phones are able to offer this feature. Sony Xperia is slowly pulling out of the market. So this is actually a USP in some markets.
The home button has taptic feedback and can be programmed by third-party applications. New feelings and applications, says Phil Schiller.
The new jet black finish is stunning for sure. Reminds me of the Apple Watch to some extent. There is also black, gold, silver and rose gold.
Yes. There is a dual camera on the new iPhone. Johnny Ive is on video, his unmistakable voice and style. There are no lines on the design. This phone looks new and different. I like the high gloss black finish already. Three dots on the back with the flash. That will be rademak look of the iPhone 7.
Look for works with Apple Homekit on devices, says Cook. However, we are a few years away in India when it comes to this technology.
Time Cook back on stage talking about the iPhone. 1 billion devices sold so far. He says iOS 10 is biggest release ever.
Apple Watch Series 2 will be priced $369 and older version Series 1 will get dual core at $269.
There is a Nike version of the Apple Watch which is getting a lot of cheer from the crowd. Trevor Edwards of Nike is on stage, says more people are running but staying motivated it tough. The Apple Watch Nike+ has a shortcut to start a run, just tell Siri. All relevant data is on the screen.
There will be ceramic version of the Watch this time. And did we mention the S2 processor is two times faster than the earlier version.
APPLE WATCH: 1000 nits, that is brighter than most smartphones screens. So you won’t have any issues under the sun. Built-in GPS is there, as was rumoured.
That is great innovation. The speaker will eject the water.
Apple Watch (Series 2) has been re-engineered. It is swim proof and water resistant for up to 50m.
Pokemon GO is the AR game that has gone viral and been downloaded 500 million times across the world. And no it has not yet officially come to India. So even Apple Watch gets it before we do. Sigh.
Wow. Pokemon GO on the watch. This is a new level of crazy.
Some of the new iMessage features comes to the Apple Watch. These new features were also announced during WWDC. What we really want to see are the hardware updates.
Apple Watch has changed what people expect from a watch, according to Tim Cook. Yup they are now the number two watch brand after Rolex, and top selling smartwatch. IDC numbers have been confirming this forever.
Apple Watch now second only to Rolex in sales revenue. Top smartwatch too, says Cook.
Now to the Apple Watch.
App Store is the king as the numbers show: Over 140 billion apps have been downloaded on the App Store. App Store makes 2X revenue compared to Google Play Store, and that’s a big deal if you consider iOS devices are much less compared to Android in the world.
iWork gets real-time collaboration. This is a big counter to Google Docs and MS Office too.
Everyone can code will be driven by Swift Playground. It’s an app all kids must try. Coding has never been this easy.
Apple CEO Tim Cook now talking about their education initiatives in the US.
So Apple does it again. Gets the Super Mario mobile game on iOS first, and yes there will be some fun stickers on iOS 10 as well.
Apple is talking about ConnectED. But this is a more US focussed update. iPads being donated to teachers and students.
Super Mario stickers coming on iOS 10.
Battle mode will let you take on friends and others on the net. Apple surely thinks Mario is big. Miyamoto is getting a lot of stage time.
One-handed play comes to Mario for the first time through iPhone.
Legend on stage. Miyamoto has brought smiles to billions of faces over the past three decades.
Super Mario is coming to the app store. Applause across the hall.
UPDATES: 140 billion apps downloaded from app store. 106% growth rate in last two months. The service story is getting better. Twice the revenue of Play Store.
Keynotes are the only time you hear Apple talk about numbers.
UPDATES: Apple Music has 17 million subscribers, I guess a lot of the new users have been added in India. “Premier destination for new artists,” says Cook. First place to hear over 70 new releases.
Cook is on stage, same shirt, same shades.
Oh my god, Tim Cook’s on Carpool Karaoke. Guess Apple iPhone 7’s security is getting a boost.
This is why Apple events are different. Not uptight at all. Sweet Home Alabama. Sweet.
Making fun of all the leaks. It’s a fun video.
The lights have dimmed and a video is playing. Tim Cook is being driven in by a blogger.
Our pre-event video captures the mood. https://youtu.be/snhJFsiTxUE
Personally I’m waiting to see how the dual lens and the new airpods or whatever they are being called will work.
The event will begin shortly. That is the final announcement. I like the fact that Apple doesn’t waste time with presenters. The CEO takes the stage, comes right to the point.
Eight minutes to go. So what do you want to see the most? Tell us in the comments section.
Apple iPhone 7 Plus will have a much better camera compared to the iPhone 7. This because rumours claim Apple is going for a dual rear camera setup on the bigger 5.5-inch device. Apple will go for two different lenses in this rear camera and merge pictures from the two.

Apple as always is playing the Beats One radio at the event.
Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch 2 will be the stars of this event. But will Apple surprise us with a new MacBook Pro? Who knows. We can only pray and hope.
Finally, we have a seat. It’s a full house by all means. The bokeh image is on the large screen.
So the Apple event will start in a couple of minutes, but the Apple Twitter account has no official tweets yet.
Apple iPhone 7 Plus could come with dual-rear cameras. Does that sound exciting?
Apple iPhone 7 launches today at 10.30 pm today. Apple iOS and Mac users can watch the stream live on their devices.
