The Apple iPhone launch event is just a few hours away. And prospective buyers are already breaking the Internet trying to figure out everything about the new phone. However, as we know, Apple is very secretive about its new launches and everything is under cover till CEO Tim Cook takes the stage at what is arguably the most awaited keynote address of the global tech calendar.

Still, we try and answer the questions you have about the new phone, at least whatever little we know.

1. What are the expectations in terms of physical design for Apple iPhone 7?
The new Apple iPhones are unlikely to have a new design. They will continue with the iPhone 6 shapes and sizes in all probability with 4.7 and 5.5 inch versions. However, a dual camera might mean slight difference in the back panel of the iPhone 7 Plus.

2. Will there be an improvement in terms of battery life for Apple iPhone 7?
A natural improvement is expected. Apple could also announce a fast charging feature.

3. Is there an expectation of higher screen resolution for Apple iPhone 7?
An increase in resolution is possible, at least in the iPhone 7 as the iPhone 6s uses 1334-by-750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi, which is HD, compared to the FullHD screen on the iPhone 6s Plus. Both screens could go one notch up to Full HD and 2K, respectively. Most flagships now offer 2K screens as standard.

4. Will the 16GB version be phased out in Apple iPhone 7?

There have been many indicators to this effect and it is likely that 32GB becomes a standard in all base models.

5. Will there be an Apple iPhone 7 Pro version?
There had been a lot of rumours to this effect. However, over the past couple of weeks, these seem to have died down. Our sources in the accessories market indicate just two models — iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

6. What can we expect from the dual-lens camera expected in Apple iPhone 7?
This could well be the USP of the top-end model. Also, initial reports suggest the way Apple will use the dual camera will be very different from how other companies have used it so far. Research firm KGI says the dual-camera will be on all 5.5-inch Apple iPhones and these phones will also have 3GB RAM to support the technology.

7. Will the new iPhones support the Apple Pencil?
There have been no reports on the use of a stylus in the phones. The Apple Pencil will need to be made in a smaller size to make it a feasible accessory for the iPhones.

8. What is the expected price of Apple iPhone 7? In US? And in India?
The US pricing strategy of $549 and $649 for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, respectively, are likely to be maintained for the new phones. As usual, the older phones will become cheaper. In India, this translated to Rs 62,000 and Rs 72,000 MOP for the two models last year.

9. What are the expectations in terms of headphone jack on Apple iPhone 7?
Apple will most probably drop the 3.5mm jack in favour of the lightning port or just Bluetooth earphones. The implications of this are huge as this is one of the basic functions of any smartphones and will also impact headphones manufacturers across the world.

10. Will the new Apple iPhone 7 run on the Apple A10 chip? What are the expectations in terms of performance?
Yes, all indicators are that the A10 chip will power the new phones. As per initial reports this performance is expected to be better than the larger iPad Pro and that will be quite something.

Again, we will need to wait till the Apple event starts at 10 am on September 7 to get the final picture. Follow @ExpressTechie for live blog, updates tonight.
