Xiaomi Mi Air Mask, has been launched in China which comes with a built-in, replaceable carbon filter. The Mi Air Mask from Xiaomi is a crowdfunded project and is available for sale in China at 89 Yuan (approx Rs 870). Xiaomi has become active in the air purification market in India recently, with the company launching the Mi Air Purifier 2 in September.
According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi’s Mi air mask is a new 52-chip fresh air mask, and is actually a set of masks that have been placed together in a compact form, making for an overall of weight of 50.5gms – making it extremely light and portable.
The mask comes with a ‘double detachable design’ that features an ultra thin fan (with 3-level speed), charging support, air volume memory (for different individuals), a knob type filter cartridge and a charging port. The Li-ion battery in the Cloth Pear Fresh mask features an energy saving module, and can be charged in 4-8 hours.
Cloth Pear fresh air mask comes with a 3D design and features hand stitching. Xiaomi claims that the filters in the mask are able to provide up to 99 per cent efficiency in PM 2.5 filtration. The filter itself uses a high-quality polyester fabric.
Xiaomi’s entered the Indian appliance market with the launch of the Mi Air Purifier 2 late September 2016 at Rs 9,999. The air purifier claims a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) performance of 330 cubic-metre per hour. It also claims to remove 99.7 per cent of PM 2.5 particles from the air.
The air purifier and mask market has seen a big boom in Northern India (especially Delhi), when for the better part of the following week there was copious amount of smog enshrouding the capital. E-commerce giants like Snapdeal have said the air purification market has seen a three-fold increase in demand this year as compared to the previous year.
