It’s 2016 and fitness trackers are still very much a desirable thing than a must-have but that hasn’t stopped companies from trying out new ideas. With most companies being a startup, Samsung doesn’t want to be left behind and is jumping in with its Gear Fit 2.
Samsung Gear Fit 2, essentially does everything that Gear Fit failed to accomplish when it was launched in 2014. Samsung Gear Fit 2 comes with an updated design, built-in GPS and recognises various activities and syncs the data with Samsung’s S Health app.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 comes with a 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 216 x 432 pixels. Samsung says its Gear Fit 2 is wider than the previous model. The fitness tracker is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB RAM, 4GB storage and 200mAh battery.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 is water resistant and has an heart-rate tracker that will record your heart beats throughout the day. There is also an accelerator, gyroscope and barometer. Its like Samsung has tried to pack everything it could inside that tiny body.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 or higher with minimum RAM of 1.5 gigabytes. Yes iPhone users are out of luck. Samsung Gear Fit 2 is priced at $179 (roughly Rs 12,000) and will compete against devices like Microsoft Band 2 and Fitbit Blaze.
