Samsung has quitely announced a new premium Chrome OS notebook with the name ‘Chromebook Pro’. Samsung Chromebook Pro is basically a variant of Notebook 7 Spin running Chrome OS instead of Windows 10. The pro aspect in Samsung’s Chromebook Pro comes from its metal unibody design, 360-degree hinge and support for a stylus.
Samsung Chromebook Pro features a 12.3-inch touch display with a resolution of 2400 x 1600 pixels. The Chrome OS notebook features 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The notebook is powered by an hexa-core processor clocked at 2GHz coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. The laptop is made out of metal and features a dedicated slot for stylus. According to Sammobile, Samsung is just not calling it an S Pen, it is just a stylus.
Samsung Chromebook Pro runs Android apps thanks to native support for Google Play store on Chrome OS. The laptop is just 0.5-inches thick and weighs around 1.1Kg. The notebook comes with support for accelerometer, gyroscope along with support for TPM security chip.
According to Sammobile, the Chrome OS notebook is already listed on Samsung’s Korean site but we couldn’t find any such listing. The Sammobile reports Chromebook Pro is listed on Samsung website with a battery life of up to 10 hours on a full charge. The notebook comes with two USB-C ports, a headphone jack and an SD card slot.
The laptop is reportedly listed on Adorama for preorder at $499. The notebook comes with one year, ad-free subscription to AirDroid app. Samsung is expected to officially announce the product in a few days.
