Samsung eyes new domains in enterprise, cameras with fresh strategies and devices

Samsung on Tuesday showed it is not one to rest on its laurels. Having made the smartphone space its own in India, the company now seems all set to capture the enterprise computing segment where tablets have for some time been touted as the next big thing.

At the annual Samsung Forum in Bali, B D Park, Samsung Electronics’ president and CEO for South West Asia, said the company will focus on bringing in smarter experiences for its customers, of which there are more and more every year. No wonder then that the company has recently been touted as the eighth most valuable in the World.

The company’s big ticket announcement was the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO, a 12.2-inch tablet that seems to be aimed at the enterprise segment due to its productivity-centric features. It is also expensive, meaning it will keep away the ‘non-serious’ buyers. Country head Vineet Taneja estimated that the serious buyers, who need the productivity, would be at least 100,000. For a tablet that cost Rs 64,900, that would be a good place to start at.

The company also showed its intent to capture more space in the camera segment. It announced a new NX30 mirrorless camera along with the Galaxy Camera 2, the second version of its innovative connected camera. Prices of these devices will be announced closer to the launch, Taneja said.

The other main announcements are:

–A 5-inch Galaxy Grand Neo at Rs 18,450, to be available in India by May end.

– A seven-inch Tab3 Neo aimed at the youth and priced at Rs 16,490.

–Vineet Taneeja also launched the Samsung Note 3 Neo with updated features and access to local Club Samsung content. This 5.5-inch phablet is priced at Rs 40,900. Read more

–Curved screens are being touted as the next big things in the television segment. So Samsung has not wasted time in announcing its new Curved UDH TVs in 78, 65 and 55 inch sizes for India. Rajeev Bhutani, the company Director Sales in India, said the curved screen will offer a more immersed viewing experience.

–There is also a new HW-H600 SoundStand for large screen televisions, as well as a MX-HS9000 sound system for those who like really loud sound.
