Alcatel Movetime WiFi watch launched, along with other ‘Move’ accessories

Alcatel has announced a new series of intuitive wearable devices at IFA 2016. The series comprises of Moveband, Movetrack, Move Track&Talk, and the Movetime WiFi Watch. The entire series of connected accessories come under the moniker ‘Move’.

Alcatel’s Movetime WiFi watch is its latest iteration in the smartwatch segment. It is based on Alcatel’s OS, and does not feature Android Wear. The watch enables a user to make and receive calls directly from the device. It is also capable of opening emails, reminders and SMSs. The watch also tracks all your exercise data – calories, time, distance, water, steps, heart rate and caffeine intake by using a dedicated app.

Movetime Wifi features gesture control, allowing users to control the watch with simple movements – a tap on the screen will play or pause music, rotating the wrist will play back or forward a song. The watch will be available in three colours – dark grey, gold and silver.

“Wearable connectivity is the future of technology and human behavior. It will shape our habits for generations to come,” says Vittorio Di Mauro, General Manager of Smart Connectivity at Alcatel. “This is why we’ve launched different devices for different ages so together we stay connected. There is a huge opportunity in connected devices for children as a way to reassure parents, me included!”

Alcatel’s Moveband will be an active bracelet that is intended to keep track of a user’s daily activities. User’s will be able to track time, calories, distance traveled, etc. The band will also record your sleeping patterns, but does not feature a GPS or a hear rate monitor. The band will be sold as a bundle package with the company’s smartphones.

Alcatel Movetrack is a portable GPS tracker that weighs at only 33 grams. It can hook on a piece of luggage or can be slipped on to a key chain. This device allows for real-time GPS tracking for up to 4 days on a single charge.

Alcatel had launched its OneTouch Watch in India last year at Rs 7,999. The watch is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
