Serena Williams swept Elena Vesnina aside in under an hour to book a place in the women’s singles final where she’d play her Australian Open conquerer Angelique Kerber. Kerber beat Venus in straight sets to deny an-all-Williams clash. It was yet another bad day for Indian players with Leander Paes, Sania Mirza and Karman Kaur Thandi all losing their respective doubles matches.

After getting to her first Wimbledon semifinal since 2009, and first at any Grand Slam tournament since a year later, she was asked what she learned in recent times, while dealing with an energy-sapping disease and a series of earlier-than-usual exits from majors.
It would be hard to bet against the Williams sisters meeting in their first Wimbledon final since 2009, but Angelique Kerber and Elena Vesnina won’t just be making up the numbers in the last four on Thursday.
