Spain led India 3-0 after the Saturday’s doubles contest and the final day’s matches were a mere formality. But that didn’t make a difference to Sumit Nagal who came in for Saketh Myneni in the first reverse singles rubber and provided a strong fight to Marc Lopez but injury in the latter stages prevented him from winning.

In the final rubber, Ramkumar Ramanathan went down in straight sets 2-6, 2-6 to David Ferrer in a quick contest.

The 5-0 win gets Spain back into the World Group for 2017 with the draw scheduled for September 22.
