Olympic bronze medalist Gagan Narang, Sanjeev Rajput and Chain Singh survived their respective elimination rounds to enter the qualification round for the finals of men’s 50m rifle 3 position event at the ISSF World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) on Tuesday.
Among them, London Games bronze winner Narang returned the best score with a combined total of 1170 for all the three positions of kneeling, prone and standing.
Chain Singh was next best with a score of 1167, while Rajput could shoot a total of 1157. Both the qualification and final rounds are slated for Wednesday.
There was disappointment in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event, where both Gurpreet Singh and Olympic silver
medallist Vijay Kumar failed to make it to the final.The duo shot a total of 569 and 562 respectively to be
eliminated in qualification.
India has so far won two bronze medals in the competition through pistol ace Jitu Rai and women’s rifle shooter Apurvi Chandela.
