There have been some memorable moments for Indian hockey in the past but a big title has been missing for the team in the recent past. While the senior team has been on the rise for some time, it was the junior team that lift the World Cup in Lucknow on Sunday.

India junior team beat Belgium 2-1 in the final to lift the title for the second time in their history. They also became the second team after Germany to win the title for more than once. The social media congratulated the Indian team for their win over Belgium and some said the future of Indian hockey in bright.

India opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Gurjant Singh, who scored the goal with a reverse shot from the left. It was a brilliant goal as it was scored from acute angle with little to aim at.

The home team doubled the lead in the 22nd minute through Simranjeet Singh who scored a field goal. India led 2-0 at half-time. Belgium pressed hard to score goals but Indian defence was solid and did not allow any goal to the opponents.

With 30 seconds remaining in the match, Belgium was awarded a penalty corner which they converted but only after the time had expired.
