Delhi Dynamos head coach Gianluca Zambrotta credited his team for its 3-1 win over defending champions Chennaiyin, saying his boys played like winners.
“In the first 15 minutes of play we were trying to stick to our tactics and after that we played like winners. It is a good win overall and it was a great team effort,” the Italian coach said.
Delhi captain and goalkeeper Antonio Baltasar Santana was also happy about the win and said the team gelled well.
“We were trying to play in the space that was available and our ball possession was good.”
Meanwhile, Chennaiyin coach Marco Materazzi admitted that Delhi deserved to win as they had better ball possession.
Materazzi said: “We lacked the pace and hunger in the whole team. The level of the teams in this edition has gone up and of course there was defensive lapses and we committed six or seven mistakes in the match.”
