Today is the 23rd anniversary of former Real Madrid forward Raul Gonzalez’s debut with Real Madrid. The 40-year-old former footballer featured in the white kit for the first time in his career on October 29 against Real Zaragoza in la Liga. He was also the youngest player in club’s history to make debut for the senior team at the age of 17 years.
He scored his first goal in his home debut against Atletico Madrid in 1994-95 season and helped Real Madrid to clinch the league title. Raul achieved numerous glories during his 16-year long career at Madrid. He made 741 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 323 goals which is the second highest in club’s history.
His list of achievements include six la Liga titles, three Champions League titles, two Intercontinental Cups, four Spanish Super Cups and a European Super Cup. Here are Raul’s top-10 memorable goals for Real Madrid during his 16-year long successful career.
Raul is also the fifth highest goal scorer in La Liga history with 228 goals behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Telmo Zarra and Hugo Sanchez. He also holds the record of being the only player to be named UEFA Club Forward of the Year consecutively for three years in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
