NorthEast United FC has roped in center-back, Salam Ranjan Singh, for the upcoming season of Hero Indian Super League.
The professional footballer has previously played as a central defender with leading teams in the I-League. Furthermore, Salam has also represented India in the under-23 age group.
Speaking at the appointment, John Abraham, Owner of NEUFC said, “I have personally enjoyed Ranjan’s game in the I-league matches and with his dedication and sincerity for football, find him to be the perfect fit in our club. I extend a warm welcome to him.”
“I am glad to be signed by NEUFC and feel that it is the right place for me. Everyone at the club is immensely passionate about football and I look forward to training with the team and performing my best at the championship,” added Salam Ranjan on joining NEUFC.
The signing comes just as other ISL teams are gearing up for the new season. On Tuesday, Mumbai City FC announced that they had managed to retain star striker Sunil Chhetri. Chhetri had just a week before, orchestrated the 4-0 thumping that India handed Puerto Rico in a friendly in Mumbai.
Kerala Blasters unveiled their squad for the 2016 season while FC Goa announced the signing of three Brazilian players. Like Mumbai City, FC Goa was also able to resign their marquee signing, former Brazil captain Lucio.
