Michael Henke, who won the Champions League twice as assistant to Ottmar Hitzfeld at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, has been named interim coach at Ingolstadt.
The struggling Bundesliga club said Tuesday it was continuing to look for a coach and that Henke was an “optimal interim solution.” Henke was once an assistant at Ingolstadt, where his latest job was in the club’s marketing department.
Henke was a longtime assistant to Hitzfeld at different clubs. The two won the Champions League with Dortmund in 1997 and with Bayern in 2001.
Ingolstadt fired Markus Kauczinski on Sunday. The club is next-to-last in the Bundesliga with two points after 10 matches.
