Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly rejected a new contract with Spanish giants Real Madrid and demanded a transfer towards the end of the season. The Portugal captain’s deal ends with the club in 2021.
According to TV station El Chiringuito journalist Edu Aguirre, Ronaldo has conveyed to the club president Florentino Perez of his decision to leave the club, adding that the 32-year old wants to leave on June 30.
The football star, who has had an off-season so far, claims he does not feel appreciated at the club. In an interview with beIN Sports, Ronaldo said on being asked if he was expecting a new contract from Real Madrid, “I don’t want to renew. I don’t want to renew. I’m very happy with the contract I have.”
However, the Champions League and Spanish reigning champions have rejected his demand. Ronaldo has only scored one goal in the domestic league so far this season.
When Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos was asked by reporters if it is true that Ronaldo is leaving the club, he replied, “Cristiano is leaving? Ask him, I don’t know about these things.”
Real, who are sitting on the third position eight points behind leaders Barcelona, will face Atletico in a derby clash this Saturday.
