Sri Lanka on Saturday registered an emphatic victory over visitors Australia by 106 runs at Pallekele.
This is the second time in the history of the game that the Lankan lions emerged victorious against the mighty Kangaroo side.
Riding on Kusal Mendis’s ferocious knock of 176 runs followed by Rangana Herath’s five-wicket haul in the second innings, the hosts outplayed the number one Test side.
Hosts didn’t begin the contest pretty well as the Australian bowlers caused disturbance in their batting line up with early blows, courtesy their lethal bowling but later on Herath’s spin web demolished Aussie batting line-up.
