Former India skipper Rahul Dravid has been appointed as a consultant to the team for the long tour of England, where India will play five Test matches. The star batsman is expected to join the team by Monday.
Dravid was approached on coach Duncan Fletcher’s request, on behalf of the team, and the legendary batsman readily agreed.
“It was the coach (Duncan Fletcher) who approached us on behalf of the team and said it would be good to have Rahul with his vast experience spend some time with the boys ahead of the series,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told ESPNcricinfo. “We immediately requested Rahul and he readily agreed.”
After retiring from international cricket in 2012, this will be Dravid’s first association with the national team in any capacity.
