Pakistan’s highest scorer in Test cricket, Younis Khan, has joined the national team in Dubai for the ongoing series against the West Indies after missing the first match due to dengue fever.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said today that the national selectors had only added Younis Khan’s name to the squad which was announced for the first Test.

“Younis has been added to the squad for the second Test,” a PCB spokesman said.

Younis, who had to be hospitalised for treatment of dengue fever, had to sit out the first Test on doctor’s advice but is now in line to play in the second match.

“I am sad to have missed Pakistan’s 400th Test and also its first day and night Test match. But these things happen and now I am just focussing on getting ready for the second Test,” Younis told the Geo News channel.

Younis, who turns 39 next month, requires another 544 runs to become the first Pakistani batsman to make 10,000 Test runs having already scored 32 centuries.

Younis said that he had enjoyed the triple hundred by Azhar Ali in the ongoing first Test and.

“I have no targets in mind right now but with two Tests ahead of me I am hoping to get some runs and be prepared for the tours to New Zealand and Australia later this year,” he said.

Younis scored a double hundred in the final Test against England at the Oval in August to help Pakistan level the four Test series 2-2.
