Pakistan cricket has been in controversy for a long time and it doesn’t seem to stop. Whether it’s between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the players or a players accusing other players of wrongdoings, Pakistan cricket has thrown up these issues from time to time. The latest in this list is the Shahid Afridi and Javed Miandad episode where both have alleged each other of unethical acts. First, Miandad accused that Afridi wants a farewell match only for money to which the latter replied saying that money has always been the issue with Miandad.

“Money has always been an issue for Javed Miandad. It doesn’t suit a legendary cricketer like him to pass such irresponsible comments,” Afridi was quoted saying in Dawn.

The spat took an ugly turn on Sunday when Miandad, talking to a Pakistan news channel accused Afridi of match-fixing. Miandad said that he whole team fixed matches and if he had money related issues, he would have never left the team.

“The whole team had fixed matches. If I had any money related issues, I wouldn’t have left the team, but I did,” said Miandad, saying that Afridi sold the team, the Dawn reported.

Afridi later took to Twitter and said that he regreted what he said to a senior but had to respond to what Miandad said. He also added that he had tolerated Miandad’s harsh words against him for a long time but now it has crossed the limit.

Afridi is playing only the T20 format for Pakistan but the selectors didn’t pick him for the West Indies series.
