The Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar has written to BCCI newly elected chief Anurag Thakur, suggesting him to include a limited-overs cricket tournament for boys under 23.

The BCCI conducts various junior and senior tournaments every year. At under-19 level too, it has Cooch Behar Trophy, which is a four-day format. An under-19 challengers tournament was introduced last year. However, U-23 players play only one tournament every year, the CK Nayudu Trophy, which has four-day matches. In a letter to Thakur, which is accessed by The Indian Express, Khanvilkar said, “I would like to suggest to start a limited-overs tournament for the above mentioned (U-23) age group. So it will give an extra platform to all the players to showcase their skills…in this format.”
