MS Dhoni is not pulling any stops in promoting his biopic ‘MS Dhoni: The untold story.’ On Friday, the crew, alongwith India’s limited overs captain met Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. Dhoni uploaded a live video on his Facebook page of the encounter.

He told Rajinikanth about the upcoming film and of its Tamil and Telugu versions. Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays the lead character in the film was also present on the occasion and was introduced to the legendary actor by Dhoni.

‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is slated for release on September 30. The movie, which traces Dhoni’s rise from obscurity to becoming one of the most successful Indian captains of all time, is also being released in Tamil, Telugu and Marathi dubbed versions, seemingly in an attempt to tap into the Indian ODI captain’s massive fan-following in these regions. Tamil Nadu, in particular, holds Dhoni in high regard as they took him as one of their own during his highly successful tenure as captain of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Chennai Super Kings.

Dhoni was recently felicitated alongside many other former Indian Test captains at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur, to mark India’s 500th match in the longest format of the game. The Green Park Test between India and New Zealand is the first of three matches which will followed by an ODI series. Dhoni’s retirement from Tests means that he will rejoin the Indian squad only for the ODI series and will take over the captain’s mantle from Test skipper Virat Kohli.
