Indian team is likely to send a short squad with MS Dhoni to lead India side in two T20 games. Young pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to fly alongwith the Indian captain.

Out of 17 member squad which is in West Indies, six are likely to comeback home. It is reliably learnt that Indian top order M Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, all-rounder Stuart Binny, pacers Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav are likely to come back home after their long trip to the West Indies.

“As it will be a short tour the Indian team will go with 14 members squad. Dhoni and Bumrah might join the team straight in USA,” a source in the selection committee inform.

However, in the desire of the board’s initiative to give cricket fans in USA chance to see Indian stars, the BCCI has certainly lost the plot with the Duleep Trophy which is expected to be played on August 23 in Noida.

The Duleep Trophy had caught everyone’s eye this season as it is schedule to be held with pink ball and that too day-night affairs. The board has been struggling to find a place to hold the Duleep Trophy tournament which is now learnt to be a three-team affair.

No top stars in first Duleep tie

The BCCI president Anurag Thakur had earlier stated that all contracted players will have to turn up for Duleep Trophy. The BCCI is going to take its top players’ feedback and later will decide whether to go ahead with pink ball Test with New Zealand. However, the first game of Duleep Trophy is expected to see pool of players from first class cricket as Indian players will be in West Indies and later in US, whereas, the second string team, India A, will be in Australia.
