Last week, RJD parliamentarian and don Shahabuddin was released from prison after Patna High Court granted him bail in the case of a murder of a witness in the 2004 killing of two brothers in Siwan, Bihar. Apart from his supporters, wanted sharpshooter Mohammad Kaif, who also hails from Siwan, was spotted accompanying the leader after he walked out of prison.
Kaif is one of the accused in the murder of Hindustan daily’s Siwan bureau chief Rajdev Ranjan.
The presence of Kaif among the crowd and with the party leadership drew flak with some tough questions for RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
However, in a hilarious turn of events, Kaif’s sharing of same name as the cricketer Mohammad Kaif led to an awkward situation for the former India player.
One of the protesters at the spot where his family and supporters were protesting his properties being attached by the police also had a bizarre yet funny sign exhibiting the mix-up.
The sign simply says “cricketer mo. kaif ko insaaf do (give justice to Mohammad Kaif).” And then a user on Twitter, including others, expressed disappointment and disbelief with Kaif – the cricketer – becoming a sharpshooter.

The tweet came to Kaif’s attention and he simply replied “I am not the shooter u [you] r [are] referring to.I m [am] training fr [for] the Cricket season ahead wid [with] #Chattisgarh. Verify to karlo yaar,” along with the original tweet.

And that wasn’t it. Kaif put up a full disclaimer highlighting another such confusion with a journalist calling and asking his brother for information. He tweeted, “My name is @MohammadKaif but I m [am] not that Sharp Shooter.
Me&family getting lot of calls.M playing only with bat&ball,” he said along with an image.
The image bears the text: “Over the last few days, news has been surfacing about someone by the name of Mohammad Kaif in connection with a sharp shooting case. Some journalist called my brother and asked, “Yeh Kaif Bhai ne kya kar diya “, some agency carried a picture saying, “Cricketer Mohammad Kaif ko Insaaf Do”
I don’t need this Insaaf,bhai.
Sir, My name is Mohammad Kaif and I am not that Sharp Shooter.
I don’t shoot with a gun, though still attempt to shoot the ball on the stumps. Will try to do so in the upcoming Domestic season while leading Chattisgarh, who are playing Ranji Trophy for the first time. Shower in your good wishes but please stop the confusion. Har Mohammad Kaif Cricketer nahi hota and as the cliche goes, When in doubt, Check it out.”

Kaif is preparing for the upcoming Ranji season where he is captain for the Chhatisgarh side who are competing for the very first time.
