Chris Gayle smashed a 12-ball fifty for Melbourne Renegades against Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League at MCG on Monday. Gayle scored a ferocious 56 runs in 17 balls including 7 sixes and a couple of fours to his name.

In the process, he equalled Yuvraj Singh’s record of the fastest T20 fifty. After Gayle’s brutal knock, Yuvraj Singh tweeted his disappointment and urged the left-hander to score in 10 balls next time. Yuvraj feels AB de Villiers can break his 12-ball 50 record.

Yuvraj had scored a 12-ball fifty against England in the ICC World T20 in the year 2007. He smashed Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over which is still a record in the T20 format.
