Chasing a modest 226-run target, Sri Lanka failed to click with the bat and were bundled out for a paltry 165 in the tri-series contest in Harare on Wednesday. While West Indies were guilty of throwing away starts, and not converting them into big ones, Sri Lanka never got going. There was some resistance from the pair of Pathirana and Jayasuriya, but it came way too late in the match, and asking rate by then was already climbing. For West Indies, Gabriel was pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/31 and he was ably assisted by Nurse who returned with impressive figures of 3/46. Overall a good day for the bowlers in Harare.

Sahil Malhotra November 16, 20167:11 pm

Gunaratne and Jayasuriya are the two men out in the middle for the islanders. Asking rate is now rising, they need 150 in almost 25 overs left in the innings

Sahil Malhotra November 16, 20167:10 pm

WICKET! Tharanga is back in the hut. Sri Lanka falling apart. Struggling at 79/5 in the 26th over of the chase. West Indies have their nose in front now

vinaysiwach November 16, 20165:39 pm

WICKET! Kusal Perera run out Charles 4

Like West Indies, Sri Lanka lose a wicket to run out. Going for a quick single but Perera is way short as Charles gets direct hit

vinaysiwach November 16, 20165:36 pm

WICKET! Jason Holder runout Kulasekara 2

Another runout for Kulasekara! What a day he is having in the field. Holder nudges it with soft hands on the pitch but Kulasekara runs in from short mid-wicket to pick up and thrown. Direct hit and Holder is no where in the picture

vinaysiwach November 16, 20164:26 pm

WICKET! Carlos Brathwaite c Lakmal b Pradeep 14

Wicket off the first ball of the over and it is the dangerman Brathwaite. Gets a short ball around his rib cage and he pulls. It flies straight to short fine-leg

vinaysiwach November 16, 20164:23 pm

WICKET! Rovman Powell c Dickwella b Pradeep 44

Powell tries to hit the ball hard from outside off-stump but it takes the outside edge and taken by the keeper. His 29-ball innings has helped West Indies but is this enough?

vinaysiwach November 16, 20164:02 pm

WICKET! Jonathan Carter c de Silva b Nuwan Kulasekara 54

Carter, trying to get on, has pulled one straight to deep square-leg where de Silva takes a straight forward catch. West Indies will be hurt by this wicket

FIFTY! Jonathan Carter gets to his second ODI fifty and he has helped West Indies bit collapse. His innings has two fours and two sixes

That is the end of the 40th over and West Indies reach 157 for the loss of four wickets. Carter and Powell the two batsmen for them. Pradeep to bowl for Sri Lanka. How much can West Indies score in last 10 overs

vinaysiwach November 16, 20163:31 pm

WICKET! Shai Hope b Gunaratne 47

Just after the 50-run stand, Hope is gone. Clearly an off-cutter from Gunaratne. Hope tries to go on the front foot but quickly moves back seeing it is a bit back off a length. He is stuck in the middle and the balls goes through on to the stumps

vinaysiwach November 16, 20163:28 pm

Lewis makes a mess and is stuck after coming down the track. Pathirana gets some drift and it takes the outside edge of the bat. Dickwella takes the catch. Lewis was outside his crease and would have been stumped if there was no edge

vinaysiwach November 16, 20162:33 pm

vinaysiwach November 16, 20161:48 pm

WICKET! Karigg Brathwaite run out Nuwan Kulasekara 14

Brilliant pick up and throw from Kulasekara to run-out Brathwaite. It’s more unlucky as well. Brathwaite’s bat gets stuck in the ground on the crease and his foot is just centimetres in air when the bails come out

vinaysiwach November 16, 20161:43 pm

Nine overs done in Harare. West Indies slow to start and have not picked up pace. They are 27 for the loss of one wicket and Sri Lanka bowlers are keeping up the pressure

vinaysiwach November 16, 201612:47 pm

Sri Lanka, after a convincing win over Zimbabwe in the opener of the tri-series, will be up against West Indies in the second match. The Island nation will be going in this match as the favourites as they have more experience if playing these conditions.

West Indies have had their issues on and off the field and they are without their experienced players like Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard and Denesh Ramdin
