Australia ended day’s play at 25/3 requiring 388 more runs to win. Rangana Herath picked up a fascinating hattrick for the hosts that helped the home team to dismiss the visiotrs early in the day. Later it was Mitchell Starc’s show who bagged 6 wickets in the inings. But Australia’s dismal batting show continued as they were reduced to 10/3 before ending day’s play at 25 without any further damages.

Australia ended first day of the second match at 54/2 as the visitors still trail Sri Lanka by 227 runs. The first day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Australia ended in a dramatic fashion.
