India, after electing to bat, got off to solid start with the 112-run stand between Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara. KL Rahul was out after scoring a brisk 25 but Vijay and Pujara put the innings back on track in brisk fashion. Both scored individual fifties in the process and put India in a strong position at Lunch. The afternoon session however belonged to New Zealand as they not only scalped the set pair but also got the wicket of Virat Kohli. The final session also belonged to the visitors as the Kiwis made the most of the new ball and picked up five wickets in the final session. At close of play, India stood at 291/9 with Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav in the middle.

Final delivery of the day… and it goes down Yadav’s leg side. India close at 291/9

Tanuj Lakhina September 22, 20164:38 pm

Big edge by Jadeja as the leftie tried to tuck it down the leg side but it escaped slightly after pitching. Goes in between the fields in the slips for a four

Tanuj Lakhina September 22, 20164:36 pm

Final over of the day then. And Boult will bowl it

Tanuj Lakhina September 22, 20164:34 pm

Two overs remaining as Craig comes in to bowl

Tanuj Lakhina September 22, 20164:34 pm

Yadav goes over the top not once but twice to hit two boundaries. India moving towards the 300 mark

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20164:05 pm

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20163:23 pm

It’s turning in the final session. Indian spinners would be licking their fingers at the moment

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20163:23 pm

Ashwin again has been promoted, and was sent into bat ahead of Saha and Jadeja. If he can bat the way he did in West Indies, India will end up posting a good total

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20163:22 pm

Rohit, Ashwin resist at Green Park. Still batting to come with Saha, Jadeja in the hut

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20162:48 pm

Short again, and Rohit gets a boundary. This time on other side of the wicket. Poor bowling by Sodhi here. Giving too many scoring opportunities

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20162:44 pm

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20161:21 pm

150 up for India. Pujara and Vijay are all at ease in the middle. New Zealand bowlers struggle to find a breakthrough

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 20161:04 pm

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 201612:33 pm

Pujara’s footwork against the spinners has been a treat today! With ease he jumps out of the crease, and, when required, goes deep

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 201612:25 pm

Short, Pujara goes back into his crease and cuts it powerfully to the ropes. India 114/1

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 201612:21 pm

Rahul is sitting next to Jadeja in the dressing room. He’ll be disappointed to miss out here. Conditions are good for batting, and he was looking good

Sahil Malhotra September 22, 201612:19 pm
