India, after deciding to bat first, dominated with opener Shikhar Dhawan operating at more than run-a-ball and Murali Vijay complementing his partner with a solid hand before rain arrived to stop play in the one-off Test against Bangladesh in Fatullah. Play finally resumed and Dhawan scored his third Test hundred and Vijay scored his 11th Test fifty as India ended a fruitful day at 239/0. (Full Coverage: India tour of Bangladesh)

Playing up the one-off Test match between Bangladesh and India, the host broadcaster threw up an interesting stat: Tamim Iqbal’s overall Test average is 39.73; against India, it shoots up to 58.50. A most basic Cricinfo Statsguru research will tell you that the opener has played only two Test matches against India — and that was way back in January 2010.

It shows that he cares, that it means a lot to him and that is not a bad place to begin.

Virat Kohli is no Virender Sehwag. Unlike Sehwag, he doesn’t believe Bangladesh are no good. Yet, Kohli is the subject of many an internet meme here. The latest, brought to this correspondent’s notice by The Indian Express sports desk, shows Kohli getting crushed between Taskin Ahmed and Mashrafe Mortaza as they collide mid-air for a celebratory chest bump.
